Primary Teaching for Mastery Work Groups – 2019/20 recruitment

In 2019/20, all Maths Hubs will be running primary mathematics Teaching for Mastery workgroups. Each workgroup will be led by one of the Maths Hub’s Mastery Specialists and will involve six or seven primary schools. During the year, they will work closely together to introduce and develop approaches to teaching for mastery.

Participating in the Work Group will provide the following benefits:

  • High quality support for teacher professional development for the lead teachers, facilitated  by the Mastery Specialists
  • Support for the head teacher in addressing leadership issues related to teaching for mastery from the Mastery Specialist and the Maths Hub leadership
  • Opportunity to work closely with other schools also developing teaching for mastery
  • No charge for participation and a grant of £1000 to help subsidise teacher release time
  • Up to £2000 matched funding to support the school in buying text books from the DfE’s recommended list

Secondary Teaching for Mastery Work Groups – 2019/20 recruitment

In 2019/20, we will also be running four secondary mathematics Teaching for Mastery workgroups. Secondary workgroups will also be lead by a Mastery specialist and will involve 2 secondary schools each. Similarly to the primary specialists, they will work closely with the schools to introduce and develop approaches to teaching for mastery.

London North East Teacher of the Year Award

An amazing teacher makes all the difference at school. Here at the London North East Maths Hub, we know there are many fantastic maths teachers across all sectors. We are very excited to host the ‘London North East Maths Hub’s Maths Teacher of the Year Award ‘ for the third consecutive year. The award ceremony will take place in Queen Mary University on 02 July 2019.

We are seeking nominations of one or two teachers from your institution who are dedicated and inspiring maths teachers from schools and colleges in the following Local Authorities:

Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest, Hackney, Barking and Dagenham and Havering for these categories:

Early Years ~ Primary ~ Secondary ~ Post-16 ~ SEND

In addition to this, we would also like to acknowledge and reward those Heads of Department and Maths Coordinators who are relentlessly paving the path for the success of their department.

Workgroup funding available
If you would like to run a mathematics workgroup in your school/college we would love to hear from you! Click on the link for your expression of interest.

We are looking for dynamic Work Group Leads for all sectors, but in particular, we would be delighted to hear from you if you are able to lead sessions on the new GCSE and A Level specifications.
